About the Bags

What makes your bags different from store-bought purses?

Every bag I make tells a story! I hand-select bold, uniquely-named fabrics (think "Swirl Frenzy" or "Peacock Paisley") and thoughtfully place every pocket for real-world function. You won't find these patterns in mass-produced bags, and I make no more than 3-4 bags per fabric—so your bag is truly one-of-a-kind. Plus, each seam is checked during quilting, and every completed bag gets a thorough inspection before it's finished. You're getting maker-owned authenticity and a piece that helps you express your unique personality.

Can you make a bag in a different size or color?

I don't offer custom sizing or color changes. Each bag is designed with specific proportions and fabric combinations that work together as a complete piece. The Vibe and Echo styles are perfected designs that balance function, style, and structure—and I want you to love exactly what I've created!

Can I commission a custom bag design?

I'm not taking custom commissions right now. My creative energy goes into designing and making the bags you see in my shop and at craft fairs. What's available is what I'm inspired to create—and I promise there's always something special coming!

Can I request a specific fabric or pattern?

I appreciate the enthusiasm, and I'd love to hear what you're drawn to! While I don't take custom fabric requests or guarantees, feel free to let me know what colors, patterns, or styles you're looking for at info@emeraldstitchquilting.com. I keep customer preferences in mind when I'm selecting fabrics for future collections. Part of my creative process is choosing fabrics that inspire me in the moment, which keeps the work joyful and authentic. Trust me, there's always something colorful and bold coming next!

Shopping & Availability

Why is the bag I want sold out?

Because each bag is handmade by just me, I create limited quantities—usually no more than 3-4 bags per fabric pattern. This keeps each piece special and unique, but it also means popular styles sell out quickly! Once a fabric is gone, it's usually gone for good, since I love exploring new patterns and keeping things fresh.

Will a sold-out fabric ever come back in stock?

Probably not—and here's why! Part of what makes each bag unique is that I use eclectic fabric choices and move on to new patterns regularly. I love the creative energy of working with fresh fabrics, and it means you're getting something truly limited. If you fall in love with a bag, I always recommend grabbing it while you can!

How do I find out when new bags are available?

The best way is to sign up for my newsletter at the bottom of the website — you'll be the first to know about new drops, upcoming craft fairs, and behind-the-scenes peeks! You can also follow me on Instagram, Facebook, or TikTok. I share new releases regularly, and the website is most active on Mondays and Thursdays.

Where can I see your bags in person?

I participate in craft fairs throughout New England—it's where 90% of my sales happen, and I love meeting customers face-to-face! Follow me on Instagram, Facebook or TikTok for upcoming event announcements. Some of my regular shows include events with New England Artisans (NE Artisans) group and popular local festivals. You can find my full in-person event schedule here: Event Calendar

Do you offer discounts at craft fairs?

Pricing is consistent whether you shop online or at a fair—every bag is handmade with the same care and quality! That said, fairs are a great place to see multiple styles at once, and customers often add a coin or peak pouch to their purchase while they're there.

Ordering & Shipping

How much does shipping cost and how long does it take?

Shipping rates are calculated at checkout based on your location. Orders typically ship within 2–3 business days and arrive within 3–5 business days. All orders include shipping insurance for your peace of mind. For full details see our Shipping Policy in the footer.

What payment methods do you accept?

I accept all major credit cards online, as well as incremental payment options at checkout. At craft fairs I also accept cash, Venmo, and Zelle.

Can I pick up my order locally instead of paying for shipping?

If you're in the New England area, you might catch me at a craft fair! Check my Instagram or Facebook for upcoming events—it's a great way to see the bags in person, skip shipping costs, and say hi. Otherwise, all online orders ship directly to you.

Care & Support

How do I clean my bag?

Spot cleaning is your best bet! Use a damp cloth with mild soap for any marks or spills, and let it air dry. The quilted cotton exterior is durable, but I don't recommend machine washing, as it could affect the structure and hardware over time.

Can I machine wash my bag?

I don't recommend it. The stabilizers, interfacing, and hardware are designed for durability, but machine washing could compromise the bag's structure and shape. Spot cleaning will keep your bag looking fresh without the risk!

What if my zipper gets stuck or a seam comes loose?

Reach out to me at info@emeraldstitchquilting.com! I stand behind my work. While I inspect every bag thoroughly before it leaves my hands, I'm happy to help troubleshoot or discuss repair options if something happens.
