Welcome to My Creative World

Discover the story behind Emerald Stitch Quilting. From quilts to handmade bags, every stitch is bold, functional, and full of personality.

Every creative journey starts with a spark, and mine begins with quilts for my daughters. I loved choosing fabrics, playing with color, and stitching together something cozy that they could keep forever. Those first quilts weren’t just projects — they were keepsakes, stitched with love and little imperfections that made them ours.

From there, sewing quickly became a part of everyday life. One fall, I made my girls Halloween bags to carry their treats. Soon after, when my own purse started ripping, I had a lightbulb moment: why not try making one myself? I had always struggled to find a bag that felt just right — bold enough to match my personality, unique enough to stand out, and functional enough to hold all the things I carry (with plenty of pockets, of course).

That first purse was the beginning of something bigger than I expected.

From Hobby to Handbags

As I began making new bags for myself and my girls, the response from friends and family was so encouraging. People kept telling me how much they loved the bold fabrics and practical designs. So, when a friend asked if I wanted to share some booth space at a craft fair, I jumped at the chance. To my surprise (and delight!), people I had never met before were just as excited about my bags. That moment was when I realized this hobby could become something more.

Why Handmade Bags?

For me, a bag is more than just a way to carry things. It’s part of your everyday life — it tags along to work, errands, vacations, and coffee dates. If it’s going to be with you that much, it should feel like a reflection of you.

That’s why I focus on bold fabrics, fun patterns, and designs that are both practical and joyful. Each piece has lots of pockets and thoughtful details because I know how important it is to have a bag that works as hard as it looks.

And the best part? No two bags are ever exactly alike. Every stitch, every fabric combination, carries a little personality of its own.

What You’ll Find Here

This blog is my chance to share more of the story behind the bags. Here’s a peek at what you can expect:

  • Behind the Seams: Sneak peeks into my sewing room, works-in-progress, and the creative process from fabric cutting to finishing stitches.
  • Fabric Stories: The inspiration behind the bold prints I choose — and why I can’t resist certain colors or patterns.
  • Tips & Guides: Practical advice like how to care for fabric purses, organize with pouches, or choose the perfect crossbody.
  • Everyday Joy: Posts that celebrate handmade living, gift-giving, and carrying something that feels authentically you.

Think of this space as sitting down with me over coffee while I share what I’m working on, what inspires me, and how these bags go from an idea to something you can sling over your shoulder.
